How to Make 1,000 mg CBD Oil from CBD Isolate (30 mL)

Make your own CBD oil (tincture) at home in about 15 minutes. This simple DIY recipe mixes 1 g of 99%+ CBD isolate into MCT oil to make a 30 mL bottle with about 990 mg of CBD — roughly 33 mg per mL.

What you need

  • 1 g of 99%+ CBD isolate (about 990 mg CBD) — a 1 g pack is exactly right
  • About 30 mL of carrier oil — MCT oil is best (thin, flavourless, absorbs well and keeps for about a year). Any edible oil works: olive, hemp seed, avocado or sunflower.
  • A 30 mL amber glass dropper bottle and a small funnel
  • A bowl of hot tap water (about 50–60 °C / 120–140 °F)

Steps: making a 30 mL CBD oil

  1. Measure 1 g of CBD isolate and pour it into the empty bottle with the funnel.
  2. Top up with MCT oil to the 30 mL mark, leaving a little room at the neck.
  3. Cap tightly and set the bottle in the bowl of hot tap water for 5–10 minutes. Gentle warmth helps the crystals dissolve — never microwave, boil or use direct heat.
  4. Shake well for about a minute. Repeat warming and shaking until the oil is completely clear with no visible crystals.
  5. Let it cool, then label the bottle with the strength (990 mg · 33 mg/mL) and today's date.
